AQHA JOHN DEERE JUVENILE CHALLENGE
AT RUIDOSO DOWNS IN ALBUQUERQUE
(Albuquerque, NM) Karmalites, a two-year-old filly, broke sharply from the outside and finished strong
to win the $152,779 AQHA John Deere Juvenile Challenge at Ruidoso Downs at the Downs of Albuquerque on Sunday.
“The farther we went the better it felt,” jockey Emilio Tapia said in the winner’s circle. The filly ran 350-yards in 17.090 seconds winning by a length-and-a-quarter for owner Fabian Muniz Porras and trainer David Gomez-Barraza. The filly punched a ticket to compete in the 2024 AQHA Racing Challenge Championships at The Downs of Albuquerque on October 26.
Karmalites is sired by The Marfa Lights out of the mare Cartel Karma by Corona Cartel. She paid $7.00, $4.00 and $4.00.

Holdwhatyougot and jockey Aldo Arboleda held off a late charge by Holy Hank and jockey Tracy Hebert in the stretch to win the $97,628 Rio Grande Senor Thoroughbred Futurity by a half-length in a
time of 58.06 seconds for five furlongs.
Going off at 21-1 odds, the gelding won for the first time in three career starts for owner Clay Harris and trainer Greg Green. Holdwhatyougot paid $45.40, $20.00 and $12.20. Holdwhatyougot is sired by Attila’s Storm out of the mare Performance Review by Eskendereya.
The $129,089 Rio Grande Senorita Thoroughbred Futurity was won by Marked Kiss and jockey Alejandro Medellin by three-and-three-quarters lengths over Ineedamarker in a five furlong running time of 58.28 seconds for owner Jana Trotter and trainer Chris Zamora.
The two-year-old won for the second in time in three career starts. Marked Kiss is sired by Marking out of the mare Back Seat Kiss by Roll Hennessy Roll and paid $4.60, $2.60 and $2.20.
