All American Select Horse Sale Up Nearly Nine-Percent
at Ruidoso Downs Race Track This Weekend
(Ruidoso Downs, NM) The All American Select Sale at Ruidoso Downs produced an all-time record of $26.1 million in sales for consigners who participated this weekend.
“The buyers were obviously pleased with the quality of quarter horse yearlings,” General Manager Walt Wiggins said.
“The average price of a horse at our sale brought over $82,000 which is an extremely strong average and an indication that quarter horse yearling sales remains solid looking toward the future.” The total average of the horse sale was up nearly 9% over last year’s average sale.
The highest price paid for a quarter horse at the Select Sale was a colt named Enforce for $675,000. Enforce was purchased by West Texas Racing Partners and consigned by Burns Ranch.
The colt is sired by Favorite Cartel out of the champion producing mare Remember Me Rose. The colt is a full brother to Grade-1 winner Cyber Attack.
The colt Hard To Explain was purchased at the sale by Gael Garza from consignor Marty Powers for $550,000. Hard To Explain is sired by Flying Cowboy 123 out of the mare Hard To Get.
The highest price paid for a filly was $500,000 for Pretty Miss Patty, also purchased by Garza from consignor Julianna Hawn Holt. The filly is sired by Favorite Cartel out of the mare
Apollitical Patty.
A total of 314 quarter horses were sold from 383 head that passed through the ring. Including horses that were repurchased, total sales and volume was $30.4 million, which is about a 9% increase over the 2023 Select Sale.
