The Inside Track by Tim Keithley: Five Horses to Watch in the All American Trials on Friday

Race 3 Hollyn Bootie (#9):

Winner of the $350,000 Zia Futurity at Ruidoso Downs on July 26, the filly has proven to be the fastest New Mexico-bred runner in the trials. Trained by Blane Wood, Hollyn Bootie is 7/2 on the morning line with jockey Ricky Ramirez aboard for owners Mark and Annette McCloy.

Race 5 Shott Gun (#5):

Won Remington Park’s $826,000 Heritage Place Futurity on May 30 at 17- 1 odds over the highly touted Aint She Tempting. The gelding started in the Rainbow trials and “stumbled” out of the gate according to the chart writer and never really had a chance to qualify to go off at sixty-cents on the dollar. Morning line odds are 5/2 with jockey Rodrigo Vallego for trainer Heath Taylor and owner Bobby Cox.

Race 7: Jez Flying (#5):

Broke his maiden at Ruidoso Downs on August 1 after troubled trips in both Ruidoso and Rainbow trials. The gelding finally got away unimpeded for trainer John Stinebaugh and jockey Raul Valenzuela showing expected talent. Odds are 9/2 for the son of 2015 All American Champion Jess Good Candy for owner Garlyn Shelton.

Race 11: Jess Lyndes Reason (#10):

Made the finals of the $1 Million Ed Burke at Los Alamitos on June 21. The filly finished seventh in the final with a troubled trip for owner/trainer Paul Jones. Jockey Alfredo Sigala gets the mount and odds are 3-1. This filly is out of the broodmare Jess Send Me who earned $360,000 in her career and is also the mother of Jess Macho Corona who finished second in last year’s All American Derby.

Race 15: Jettz (#3):

Leave a spot on the All American qualifying list for this gelding who starts late in the race day as the 5/2 favorite. The gelding finished third in the $1 million Ruidoso Futurity June 7th to Cyber Monday. He also made the final of Remington Park’s Oklahoma Breeder’s Futurity in April. Jettz is trained by John Bucannon who won the Rainbow Oaks with Ratification and is owned by Bobby Cox.
