JESS SAVIN CANDY ENTERED FRIDAY IN RAINBOW FUTURITY TRIALS
Jess Savin Candy, winner of the $1 million Ruidoso Futurity on June 13, returns to compete in trials for the $1 Million Rainbow Futurity next Friday at Ruidoso Downs Race Track and Casino.
“The proof is in the pudding,” trainer John Steinbaugh said. “I took him over and stood him in the gate this week and you could tell he had his game face on. He’s had a couple of starts now and should become a more seasoned horse, and we do think he’ll like more distance going 400-yards this time.”
Jess Savin Candy, owned by Dutch Masters (Dr Jim Streelman), will be number-four in the thirteenth trial race. The gelding’s sire is Jess Good Candy out of Savin Grace by Pappastio with earnings from the Ruidoso Futurity of $421,600.
Jess Fire Me, who finished second in the Ruidoso Futurity, returns to compete as number-nine in the fourth race on Friday. There is a new pair of co-owners for the gelding that have teamed up with Empire Racing—Shaun Hubbard and Ray Willis. The gelding’s sire is Walk Thru Fire out of Jess Sass Me by Mr Jess Perry.
There will be fourteen trial races for the Rainbow Futurity per day on Friday and Saturday with first post scheduled for Noon. The top five recorded times from both days will advance to the final of the race set for July 24.
The Rainbow Futurity is considered the second-leg of quarter horse racing’s triple crown for two-year-olds, followed by the $3 Million All American Futurity which is scheduled to be run on Labor Day, September 6.
